Kick-off Meeting CEN WS64 – Phase 3 ‘Design and Construction Codes for Gen II, III and IV Nuclear facilities’
This Workshop intends to develop a voluntary mechanism for a broad set of partners involved in the construction and operation of nuclear facilities and/or nuclear components in Europe, and that are willing to share at least one of the four objectives describes in the draft project plan. As a result, the proposed workshop will enable members to:

• Identify and recommend medium-long term orientations in the evolution of AFCEN codes;
• Identify the R&D needs.

The workshop builds upon CEN/WS 064 Phase 1 ‘Design and Construction Code for mechanical equipments of innovative nuclear installations (European Sustainable Nuclear Industrial Initiative)’ and CEN/WS 064 Phase 2 ‘Design and Construction Codes for Gen II to IV nuclear facilities (pilot case for process for evolution of AFCEN codes)’ through which a committed community of experts involved in nuclear codification was created. Therefore, the Phase 3 intends to take another step towards  the fundamental harmonization of nuclear codes and standards.
The proposer of this workshop is AFCEN (French association for the rules governing the design, construction and operational monitoring of electro-nuclear boiler equipment) and its members.

PG 2, which addresses innovative reactors, (Gen IV fission, fusion) is directly relevant for EERA JPNM members.
