Use fundamental research to improve the simulation of nuclear fuels: the path towards safer reactors

INSPYRE focused on the investigation of fast reactor MOX fuel to support the development and qualification of the fuels for the future generation of reactors. The partners of the project:

evocative picture

used carefully designed modelling and experimental investigations to accurately describe basic phenomena occurring in the fuel
evocative picture

characterized precisely selected key irradiated fuel samples to fill identified knowledge gaps
evocative picture

combined basic and technological research to enhance the reliability of empirical laws deduced in the past from irradiation tests
evocative picture

implemented the new models and data obtained in the fuel performance codes used for the design future reactors
evocative picture

created opportunities for young scientists to acquire knowledge and experience the nuclear materials field and to exchange with experts

INSPYRE has come to an end. You can find the scientific results of the project in the documents area. We are working on finalizing the synthesis deliverables of the project.

INSPYRE is coordinated by Marjorie Bertolus, CEA (FR)
