Derivation of parameters and development of models for Fuel Performance Codes
Coordinated by Alessandro Del Nevo, ENEA (IT)
WP6 aims at transferring the outcomes from the basic and technological research into models suitable for
numerical tool implementation. Activities are divided into three tasks devoted to advancements in fission
gas, mechanical and thermal modelling of fuel pellet. The main objectives are to:
- develop and validate a model for inert gas behaviour in high‐burnup FR MOX fuel;
- develop an advanced mechanical model and a rupture micro‐mechanical model;
- develop thermal expansion and Young's modulus correlations for modelling irradiated MOX fuel;
- develop melting temperature and thermal conductivity models for MOX fuels and for MOX fuel with low content of minor actinides (<5%).
