COSIRES Conference: Call for Abstracts

Call for EERA JPNM Event Grant Applications

When: Sunday 16-06-2024 00:00 – Friday 21-06-2024 00:00
Where: Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada

The 16th edition of COSIRES will be held from June 16 to June 21, 2024 (i.e., next year) at Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada.

The COSIRES conference is held every two years. It is a leading venue for presenting and discussing recent advances in the computational investigation of materials phenomena caused or influenced by all forms of irradiation. A field that connects primary radiation damage to irradiation-induced effects is necessarily at the forefront of computational and experimental materials science, often driving innovation in advanced techniques across a vast range of time and length scales.

The previous COSIRES conference was held in 2022 in Porquerolles, France, and was attended by more than one hundred research scientists from around the world. In 2024, we expect ~150 attendees. 13 invited speakers from 9 different countries have already confirmed their participation. More details can be found on the conference website: https://sites.google.com/view/cosires2024/home?authuser=0 .

The call for abstracts in now open, and will remain open until December 15, 2023. Both oral and poster contributed presentations slots are available. We expect to “promote” a few contributed talks to invited talks. You can submit your abstract on the conference website: https://sites.google.com/view/cosires2024/home?authuser=0 .

INNUMAT Workshop on Standardization and Qualification Activities for Innovative Nuclear Materials26th EERA JPNM Steering Committee Meeting

INNUMAT Workshop on Standardization and Qualification Activities for Innovative Nuclear Materials

When: Thursday 16-11-2023 00:00 – Friday 17-11-2023 00:00
Where: CIEMAT, Madrid, Spain
CIEMAT would like to invite you to the Workshop on Standardization and qualification activities for innovative nuclear materials that takes place at CIEMAT, Madrid, Spain on November 16th – 17th, 2023.
It is well accepted that time horizons for nuclear materials development and qualification must be shortened to realize future nuclear energy concepts. Qualification of a new material of solution to be used in a nuclear power plant began with the acquisition and gathering of the data which describe the physical and mechanical behaviour of the material, necessary to apply the component design rules available in the nuclear design code (RCC-MRx, ASME PVPC, or others).
Within the framework of the INNUMAT HORIZON EURATOM project (http://www.innumat.eu/) this workshop will be organized to present and share different initiatives on the qualification of innovative materials as solution, as protective coating, not only applicable to nuclear reactors design and operation (both fission and fusion) but also in other applications as concentrated solar power (CSP) or the automotive industry.
The workshop will be held at CIEMAT, 16th-17th November 2023. The first two sessions will be dedicated to qualification of nuclear materials, including a presentation about EURATOM projects (INNUMAT and NUCOBAM) as well as the CEN WS 064 Phase 4. Session 3 and 4 will be dedicated to synergy action on qualification and standardization within the SNETP, EUROFusion project, concentrated solar Power and automotive industry (ToughSteel project) and new EU proposals.
